WARANGAL, DECEMBER 13, 2025: The injured Barn Owl was rescued by the Department of Zoology of Vaagdevi Degree and PG College, Warangal (Hanamkonda).
HOD P. Suresh, faculty members M. Bhargavi, P. Rajkumar, and G. Prasad shifted the injured Barn Owl and was sent to the Kakatiya Zoological Park in Warangal for rehabilitation. The process of the rare bird’s transformation was identified at Vaagdevi College. The faculty members identified the condition of the Barn Owl.
They explained that this bird has natural processes such as moulting and continuous growth of its beak and claws. The Barn Owl breaks its beak and claws on its own or pulls its toenails to make new ones. During this molting, the bird cannot hunt or eat, and it becomes cold due to hunger or infection. The owl was carefully rescued under the Animal Welfare Act and handed over to the Kakatiya Aquatic Park in Warangal.
