

NEW DELHI, MARCH 03, 2025: A high-level workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in the Dairy Sector was held on Monday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, under the leadership of Amit Shah, Union Minister for Home and Cooperation. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, cooperative representatives, and experts to discuss innovative strategies for achieving a self-reliant and sustainable dairy ecosystem in India.
In his address, Mr Amit Shah highlighted the pivotal role of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in strengthening the cooperative dairy sector. He emphasized their contributions in modernizing dairy infrastructure, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring financial support for farmers. The Minister stressed the need for integrating circular economy principles, such as waste-to-value innovations, renewable energy adoption, and efficient resource utilization, to enhance productivity and reduce environmental impact.
The workshop also explored strategies for expanding dairy exports, digital transformation in dairy cooperatives, and climate-resilient dairy farming. Experts called for greater synergy between cooperatives, government agencies, and private stakeholders to achieve the vision of a sustainable and globally competitive Indian dairy sector. The event concluded with a call to action for accelerating policy reforms and financial interventions to support dairy farmers and cooperative societies nationwide.
