
JAGTIAL, JULY 28, 2025: As a part of Vana Mahotsav, launched by the Central government of India and World Nature Conservation Day on Monday, the students of Government Degree College for Women, JAGTIAL, distributed different types of plants to the local people.
The theme of this year’s Vana Mahotsav is “Ek poudha Maa ke Naam” … In connection with the theme, the NSS volunteers of the college distributed Mango, Lemon, Sapota, bougainvillaea, pomegranate, Patri and other ornamental plants to the local people and advised them to raise the plants in the name of their mother.
In charge principal Pramod Kumar, addressing the students, said that the significance of the Van Mahotsav festival lies mainly in its ability to promote a culture of environmental conservation and sustainable development. It motivates people and makes them more aware of forest conservation and planting trees. It emphasises the impact of deforestation in India and helps in maintaining ecological balance.
It also mitigates the impact of climate change, prevents soil erosion, promotes biodiversity, and improves human health. The festival also strengthens communities by providing platform for promoting afforestation and environmental awareness. He appreciated the NSS Programme officers N Sangeetha Rani, G Sreelatha, D Sujatha and students. Vice principal G Chandraiah, faculty members Vasavi, Neeraja, Mallikarjun, and students were present.
