KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 05, 2026: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar pays rich tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram, a lifelong crusader for social justice and socialist leader, on his birth anniversary, which is commemorated as ‘Samata Diwas’ across the country.
Bandi Sanjay paid floral tributes to the socialist leader at Bau Jagjivan Ram’s statue in Karimnagar town, while commemorating his 119th birth anniversary on Sunday.
“My respectful tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. Babuji dedicated his entire life to the rights of the deprived, exploited and Dalits. He strengthened the democratic and constitutional values of the country by strengthening their rights and participation. His thoughts and struggle will always inspire us,” Mr Sanjay Kumar stated.

He recalled that Babu Jagjivan Ram served as a Member of Parliament continuously from the first general elections in independent India in 1952 until his passing in 1986, and rendered 29 years of service as a Union Minister.
He stated that Jagjivan Ram, who stood firmly alongside Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle, earned a reputation as a leader without enemies in India’s political and social spheres. He opined that today’s youth should take inspiration from the ideals he followed and the path of reforms he demonstrated
Born in a Dalit family, Jagjivan Ram from Bihar’s Bhojpur faced discrimination early in life, and this fueled his determination to fight against social injustice. Popularly known as ‘Babuji’, Jagjivan Ram was a national leader and freedom fighter who championed the rights of the downtrodden in society.
Choppadandi legislator Medipalli Satyam, Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, Collector Chitra Mishra, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam, Additional Collectors Ashwini Wakade and Laxmi Kiran, RDO Maheshwar and others were also present.
