
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 26, 2024: National Service Scheme of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunuru, Karimnagar, in association with Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Nagunuru, conducted a free breast screening and awareness camp on breast cancer as part of October month breast cancer awareness month on Saturday.
The viral health screenings using thermal technology were conducted by the PIMS hospital. Dr Geetha Reddy, Professor in Department of Surgery, PIMS, spoke about the significance of early detection. “Breast cancer is entirely treatable if detected early,” she emphasised, urging increased awareness among women. “Millions fall victim to this disease every year, but with timely awareness and early detection, many can overcome it.”, she added.
College Principal T Malathi echoed these sentiments and stated, “Recognising the significant issue of breast cancer, we are launching a dedicated campaign focused on awareness and screening.” She assured attendees similar camps would be held in the future and stressed the importance of immediate testing if any symptoms arise. “Staying vigilant and getting timely check-ups is crucial in the fight against this disease,” she added. Vice Principal G Samatha, College medical officer Dr Chaitanya, NSS programme officer K Geetha Rani, other faculty members were also present.
