Imposing e-challans on two-wheelers and cars is not the solution to the traffic menace in Karimnagar town
How can autos overload with more commuters and be made to go scot-free, and two-wheelers are penalised?
There are restrictions on the movement of autos. But neither the Traffic police nor the RTA officials take any action for the operation of autos for more than 70 kilometres
KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 04, 2026: The Karimnagar Traffic police, who accord more priority for imposing e-challans and freshly tinted car windows, are neglecting their legitimate duties to remove encroachment of footpaths and parking places in various parts of fast-growing Karimnagar town.
The Traffic police authorities, who are concerned about the implementation of helmets, seat belts, number plates, wrong side driving, and tinted glass windows of cars, are showing negligence towards the violation of traffic rules by the autorickshaws, who vehemently encroach traffic junctions and other locations in the town and convert them into auto stands (addas) by erecting the signboards.
The auto-wallahs overload with commuters against the norms of ‘Four in all’ and park vehicles illegally on the roads, but they are made to go scot-free for the reasons better known to the authorities concerned. It is surprising to see that the auto-wallahs wear a T-shirt with ‘traffic volunteers’ and encourage the autos to park the vehicles haphazardly on the roads, causing nuisance, traffic snarls and accidents because of their illogical driving.
The traders are converting the parking space into their shopping addas by erecting permanent shops and even encroaching the roads, causing traffic snarls around the Ambedkar stadium, Collectorate, Civil Hospital and other localities. But, the police are only concerned of imposing e-challans and not discharging their legitimate duties of removing the encroachments on the roads and ensuring that the pedestrians walk on the footpath.
The Police and MCK authorities have themselves flouted the norms by encouraging their shoppers to encroach on the parking places at their respective shopping complexes, such as the police headquarters and the MCK office in Karimnagar town. It is high time that the Traffic police authorities accord priority to removing encroachments, illegal auto-stands and overloading of autos with commuters, instead of targeting two-wheelers and cars without providing the basic road infrastructure to them.
