The reason is that the toilet was emitting a bad smell and was causing inconvenience to the officials attending the weekly Prajavani programme at the auditorium
Instead of taking up maintenance of the toilet by deploying scavengers, the officials had completely closed the toilet by erecting a wall, denying the same to the physically challenged persons
Earlier, these so-called officials had removed the open toilets adjacent to the Sulabh complex, forcing the people to urinate in the open
Otherwise, there are no common toilets on the Collectorat,e where several hundred people visit every day
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 23, 2025: A few days ago, the district officials had encroached the parking space by taking up plantation of saplings at the parking site, wherein the parking sheds are clearly visible, and now they have closed the toilets for the disabled persons on the premises of the auditorium in Collectorate in Karimnagar town.
Earlier, the authorities had closed the open toilet adjacent to the existing Sulabh complex and now the toilet at the auditorium on the pretext that foul smell was emanating from the toilets during the conduct of weekly Prajavani programme on Monday and other meetings. Incidentally, the officials should remember that the Collectorate auditorium and the toilets had existed for over four decades since their construction, and several officers had conducted several meetings, including a ‘dawn to dusk’ meeting with a vision.
But the present officials are removing the open toilets and forcing the people to urinate in the open. After observing this, the officials are taking up the plantation of saplings and erecting barbed fencing around it. A day will come when the visitors will urinate on the road as there are no public toilets, and the existing one is closed and taken up for plantation and the erection of fencing around the plantation at the parking space of the Collectorate.

Because of the bad smell from the toilet, the officials had closed it, denying toilet facilities for physically challenged persons. Instead of taking up proper cleaning by deploying scavengers and regular maintenance of the running water supply, the ‘visionless’ officials had closed the toilets and opened it from the backside of the auditorium without a ramp for disabled persons to use them. “What a great idea”. When this toilet has existed for several decades, how is it causing a nuisance to the present officials? It is time for the officials to take up proper maintenance of the toilets. But the closure is not the solution.
It is time for the officials concerned to remove barbed fencing around the Collectorate parking space and open it up for the public to park their vehicles. The learned officials should know that the vehicular population is increasing every day, especially with the advent of EV vehicles. If they remain adamant and do not remove the plantation and fencing at the parking place, they will remain as visionless officials forever.
When the existing toilets did not cause inconvenience to several senior IAS officers while conducting several meetings and attending the Prajavani programme, why only these officials irritated and closed the toilets for emanating bad smell. Another toilet meant for the womenfolk was also badly maintained, adjacent to the Collectorate auditorium, with only one toilet.
