HANAMKONDA, FEBRUARY 21, 2026: A three-day International Conference on ‘Biomedical Research for Global Health: Advances, Opportunities and Challenges’ (Hybrid mode) organised by the department of Zoology of the Kakatiya Government Degree (autonomous) College in Hanamkonda concluded on Saturday.
President of the Conference was College Principal Prof. G. Srinivas, and the conference saw insightful scientific deliberations involving eminent researchers and academicians.

The conference opened with a keynote address by Prof. Karnam Srinivas Murthy, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, who highlighted the molecular foundations of modern medicine. Technical sessions covered diverse themes, including cancer biology, integrative medicine, infectious disease therapeutics, drug discovery, lifestyle diseases, and regenerative medicine.
Notable presentations included discussions on the hallmarks of cancer by Prof. R. Suresh, IIT, Madras, new drug development pathways by Prof. D. Samba Reddy, A&M University, Texas, and functional nutrition strategies by Prof. A. Uma, JNTUH, Hyderabad.
Emerging advances in parasitic disease research, cardiovascular therapeutics, metabolic health, and biomedical research models were also presented by distinguished speakers.
Prof. Rajendar, NIN Hyderabad, delivered a talk on genetic factors in mitigating lifestyle diseases, Prof Shamitha, BOS, Department of Zoology, Kakatiya University, spoke on the role of Animal Models in Biomedical Research and
Prof M. Estari, Dept. of Zoology, KU, delivered a talk on Emerging Strategies in Infectious Disease Therapeutics: from Ethonomedicine to Molecular Targeting.
Day Three sessions began with Stem Cells for Functional Tissue Regeneration by Prof. A. Satish Babu, AI and its impact in Drug Designing & Discovery Process by Prof. Perugu Syam, NIT, Warangal and on metagenomics by Prof. Y. Venkaiah. The Convener & Organising Secretary of the Program is P. Rohini, Asst. Prof. of Zoology.
The conference provided a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and research contributions through oral and poster presentations, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary biomedical research in addressing global health challenges.
