HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 13, 2025: Deputy CM Mallu Batti Vikramarka comforted Pooran Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amaneeth, and family members, inquiring about the circumstances that led to the officer’s suicide. He assured them that the Telangana government would stand by Pooran Kumar’s family. The Deputy CM also facilitated a phone conversation between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Amaneeth and the family. CM Revanth Reddy promised support and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka also spoke with Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, who visited to console Amaneeth. He urged that, based on the suicide note, cases should be registered and strict action taken against those responsible, regardless of their position, to ensure justice for Pooran Kumar’s family.
Later, speaking to the media, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka described Pooran Kumar as a highly talented individual, an engineering graduate from the prestigious Osmania University, and an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. He called the officer’s suicide, driven by caste discrimination and harassment from senior officials, a grave issue. He emphasised that Pooran Kumar’s suicide note should be treated as a dying declaration. He criticised the government’s lack of action despite the passage of time and demanded that the Haryana government and Chandigarh police protect and support Pooran Kumar’s family, which includes his elderly parents and two daughters. He accused the BJP government of appointing an officer named Kapoor, known for anti-Dalit sentiments, as DGP, calling it unfortunate that even in independent India, justice remains elusive for victims.
Pooran Kumar, a President’s Award recipient at a young age, left a suicide note that should prompt action against the responsible officials. Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that the BJP-governed Haryana and Chandigarh administrations must uphold the Constitution. He clarified that they were not demanding defiance of the law but its proper enforcement. He reiterated that Telangana CM Revanth Reddy had spoken to the family over the phone, assuring them of full support.
Accompanying Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka were AICC SC Cell President and Jharkhand Congress in-charge Koppula Raju, Chandigarh Congress President Harmohinder Singh Lucky, Media Advisor Bhupendra Singh Boor, Jaspreet Singh, AICC Secretary Pardeep Narwal, Youth Congress President Deepak Lubhana, ST Cell President Dharmendra, and Raj Deep Sidhu.
