Hyderabad strengthened by the visionary leadership of Nehru, P.V. Narasimha Rao, and Manmohan Singh
Hyderabad – the Capital of GCCs
HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 29, 2025: At the inauguration of the McDonald’s Global Office in Hyderabad, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the McDonald’s Global Office is a symbol of trust in governance and confidence in Telangana’s talent.
He, along with Minister for Industries and IT Sri Sridhar Babu, inaugurated the McDonald’s Global Office near T-Hub on Wednesday and addressed the gathering.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that McDonald’s choosing Hyderabad as the base for its Global Office is a clear reflection of faith in Telangana’s exceptional talent. Hyderabad has now emerged as the capital for GCCs (Global Capability Centres), he added.
He said that Hyderabad’s strength has been built over time due to the visionary policies of great leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, P.V. Narasimha Rao, and Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Welcoming the global leadership and employees of McDonald’s to Hyderabad, the Deputy CM said, “It gives me great happiness to welcome you to Hyderabad — your new home for global excellence.”
He noted that when McDonald’s began in the 1940s, it represented not just food but also the idea of scale, efficiency, and a connected world.
Over the decades, the golden arches have become a symbol of innovation and operational excellence, serving millions every single day, he said.
Citing Mark Knopfler’s song “Boom, Like That”, inspired by McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, the Deputy CM said that the story of McDonald’s is truly the story of bold ideas spreading across the world, one neighbourhood at a time.
“Similarly, Hyderabad too has undergone a transformation — from a historic city of minarets and lakes to a global hub of data, design, and decision-making,” he said.
He added that both Hyderabad and McDonald’s have proved that with clarity of purpose, one can serve not only a city or a nation but the entire world.
Referring to India’s development story, the Deputy CM said, “We cannot forget the far-sighted vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He laid the foundations of modern India.”
He said that Hyderabad’s enduring strength came from those early investments — institutions like CCMB, University of Hyderabad, BHEL, ECIL, and other public sector enterprises — all born out of Nehru’s vision of building India through strong public institutions.
He further recalled how P.V. Narasimha Rao, as Prime Minister, and Dr. Manmohan Singh, as Finance Minister in his cabinet, deepened that vision by connecting India to the world — confidently, prudently, and compassionately.
Dr. Singh reminded us, he said, that economic reforms are not just about markets but about creating opportunities with dignity.
That same philosophy — growth with equity and inclusion — guides the Telangana Government’s approach today, the Deputy CM added.
The Deputy CM described the new McDonald’s Global Office as part of a transformative global economic phenomenon.
He stated that in the past two decades, Hyderabad has become the epicentre of global capability centres, with hundreds of such hubs operating in the city today.
“These centres are a reflection of trust in our talent, faith in our governance, and confidence in our shared future,” he said. “They are not just back offices; they are the nerve centres of global innovation.”
He added that the GCCs in Hyderabad connect Chicago to Charminar, Boston to Banjara Hills, and London to Lingampally, transforming Hyderabad into a global command centre where decisions are made that shape markets and experiences across continents.
“McDonald’s is much more than a business. It is a symbol of hope, human connection, and the shared joy of coming together over a meal,” he remarked.
He said that through this new Global Office, that same spirit is being reimagined and strengthened by Hyderabad’s engineers, analysts, and innovators.
“Just as McDonald’s has redefined its supply chains, sustainability, and digital experiences, Hyderabad too is redefining itself as a city where technology and humanity go hand in hand,” the Deputy CM said.
He also expressed happiness that McDonald’s will partner with Telangana for skill development and employment opportunities for the youth, ensuring that global capability translates into local opportunity.
The Deputy CM also appreciated the Ronald McDonald House Charities for their service to children and families in need, noting that such compassion reflects Telangana’s philosophy that development must have a human face.
“This new McDonald’s centre is not just another building in Hyderabad’s skyline,” he said. “It is a symbol of India’s confidence, Telangana’s talent, and the power of collaboration between global enterprise and local capability.”
Addressing the McDonald’s team, he said, “Hyderabad is not just your office; it is your partner. Together, let us create a future where the world’s best ideas find a home in India’s most dynamic city.”
Representatives of McDonald’s who attended the event include Ms. Skye Anderson, Mr. Deshant Kaila, Mr. Mattijs Backx, Mr. Spero Droulias, and Mr. Das Dasgupta, among others.
