
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 13, 2025: Following the instructions of the government, people from all walks of life pledged to support the drug-free India mission. Oath-taking ceremonies were organised in almost every educational institution of the integrated Karimnagar district on Wednesday. Offices of various departments, commercial organisations, and other institutions, including panchayati raj and NGO’s also participated in the event.
In Jagtial, the students of Government Degree College for Women ( A) Jagtial NSS and Health club organised the 5th mass pledge against drug abuse as per the instructions of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof. K.Ramakrishna said that every person in the college should act as an ambassador in creating awareness and help the government by reporting illegal drug supply or usage by dialling toll toll-free number 1908 without any fear, as the details of the informers do not get disclosed.
G.Neeraja, Health Club coordinator, explained that Drug abuse means using drugs in ways that cause physical, psychological, or social harm. They cause pleasure and reward in the beginning and later cause irreparable loss in every way. She also educated students not to get tempted by any rewards and not to act as drug peddlers.
Pledge was administered by G.Srilatha, NSS Programme Officer. Participants have all expressed commitment to stay away from drugs and create awareness amongst their family members and peers.
Similarly, in the Rajanna-Sircilla district, the students of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopeta, participated in the programme and took an oath to discourage the consumption of drugs. Principal V Vijaya Lakshmi, Sub-inspector of police M.Ramakanth, constables B.Naresh, K. Sai Ramakrishna, U.Sai Kiran of Gambhiraopet, NSS programme officer Paka Dharmapuri and other faculty members were also present.
Students of Government Degree College, Agraharam, Rajanna-Sircilla district, also took oath for a drug-free India on the college premises. Organised by the anti-Drug committee, college principal T Shankar said drug abuse had become a major threat to society and had adversely affected the youth of the country.
Vice Principal T Lavanya, Anti-Drugs Committee coordinator KY Karuna, Vemulawada Excise CI Rajashekhar, SI V Ravi and other faculty members were also present.
