
PEDDAPALLI, AUGUST 18, 2025: Following the steady inflows into the SRSP in Nizamabad district and the irrigation officials releasing flood waters by lifting eight gates, the officials of Sripada Yellampalli Project have turned alert and lifted 32 flood gates to release 1,71,904 cuses of water downstream of river Godavari on Monday.
The SRSP water level reached 1088 feet, compared to a reservoir level of 1091 feet. The storage capacity reached 72.23 tmcs of water. As the project reached more than 90 per cent of its storage capacity, the irrigation authorities lifted the floodgates and released water through the Kakatiya canal and SRSP flood flow canal to the downstream projects.
Sounding high alert, the Sripada Yellampalli project officials have lifted 32 gates, which include 20 fgates with a height of 1.5 meters and 12 gates with a height of one meter to release more than 2.20 lakh tmcs of water downstream into the river. The project was having 18.81 tmcs of water against its storage capacity of 20.175 tmcs of water. The project was receiving more than 62,000 cusecs of water. The officials are lifting 6300 cusecs of water through the Nandi pump house to the Mid Manair Dam, shifting 295 cusecs of water to Hyderabad metro water supply board and 112 cusecs to NTPC Ramagundam.
