It is time for the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee to scrutinise admissions taken up in Sri Chaitanya Engineering and Vaageshwari Engineering Colleges in Karimnagar town
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 01, 2025: In the garb of increasing admissions to snatch away the fee reimbursement scheme, Sri Chaitanya Institute of Technological Sciences, LMD colony, and Vaageshwari College of Engineering in Thimmapur, on the outskirts of Karimnagar town, has been charging an excess tuition fee over the stipulated norms by the government.
This has come to light with several students knocking on the doors of the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) and this news website on Monday. During the interaction with a student’s family members, it was found that Sri Chaitanya Engineering College had collected Rs 90,000 for admission in the first year, exceeding the norm of Rs 63,000 per annum.
It was also found that the college had not followed merit-based admissions, providing them even before the issuance of the notification by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (Technical Education). It is surprising to note that the college management had collected an advance amount from a student for admission into the EEE group on June 23, 2025, even before the issuance of the admission notification by the TGEAPCET.
During the interaction with some of the parents by this reporter, the parents said that they had paid Rs 90,000 for securing admission in the CSE stream. When I referred that the college management had been demanding Rs 1.1 lakh for admission in CSE against the norms, the parents said that they had approached the college well in advance and secured admission by paying Rs 90,000 only.
Some of the parents have asked what the Telangana State Council of Higher Education is doing when the private engineering colleges are fleecing parents by charging excess fees, violating the norms. They urged the authorities concerned to scrutinise the admissions relating to the B-category in Sri Chaitanya Engineering College and Vaageshwari College of Engineering in Karimnagar town and take serious action for deviation from the rules.
Sources said that the Vaageshwari College of Engineering, which is stipulated to collect only Rs 55,000 fee per annum, is collecting more than Rs 75,000 to Rs one lakh, violating the norm,s including the merit.
