
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 07, 2025: The Department of Microbiology at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College (TSWWDC), Nagnur, Karimnagar, recently organised a grand event titled “Sir Alexander Fleming Legacy and White Coat Ceremony.”
During the event, students from the Microbiology department delivered presentations, speeches, and skits, and displayed posters highlighting Sir Alexander Fleming’s research and the significance of the Penicillin antibiotic. They also discussed the challenges presented by antibiotic resistance today and the potential future consequences of their misuse.
The ceremony also marked a special occasion for the first-year Microbiology students. To officially welcome them into the department, a White Coat Ceremony was held. The students were presented with white coats, and the importance of the coat, along with the scope and benefits of studying microbiology, was explained to them.
The event was attended by the college principal, T. Malathi, along with the Head of the Microbiology Department, K. Geetharani, and faculty members, including P. Pravitha, ACO Dr. G. Vasumathi, and college medical officer Dr M. Chaitanya. All faculty members and students participated in the successful celebration.
