HYDERABAD, JULY 31, 2025: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Balaram directed officials to complete the construction of the ongoing 122 MW solar power plants by October this year. He also instructed immediate commencement of work on another 137 MW of solar plants—already finalized through tenders—and set a target to complete them within a year, taking SCCL’s total solar capacity to 504 MW.
On Thursday evening (31-07-2025), a comprehensive review meeting was held at SCCL Bhavan where CMD Balaram evaluated the progress of solar power and other business expansion initiatives undertaken by Singareni.
He emphasised that there should be no delays in solar plant construction, warning that agencies and supervising officials will face action if the projects are not completed within the stipulated timelines.
Following a positive feasibility report on establishing a Green Hydrogen Plant in Ramagundam, the CMD instructed officials to expedite all necessary processes for the plant’s construction. Once operational, the plant is expected to produce 5 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, bringing considerable financial benefits to SCCL.
CMD Balaram also highlighted the potential for large-scale geothermal power generation in the Manuguru region. Based on reports and ongoing discussions with ONGC, he directed officials to immediately begin preparations for jointly establishing a major geothermal plant in the area.
Further, he called for the swift completion of feasibility studies on setting up wind power plants over the overburden dumps in open-cast mines. He also instructed officials to explore the potential for establishing pumped storage power plants at Medipalli and other open cast mines, and to prepare detailed reports accordingly. He stressed that the concerned officers must approach these studies with focused attention and dedication.
In light of an agreement already signed with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) for a 1,500 MW solar plant in Rajasthan, CMD Balaram announced that a high-level SCCL team would soon visit the site for further progress.
He reiterated that delays or negligence in project execution would not be tolerated and all initiatives must be completed within their respective timelines.
The review meeting was attended by Directors D Satyanarayana Rao, L.V. Suryanarayana, K. Venkateshwarlu, Gautham Potru, GM (CDN) S.D.M. Subhani, GM (CPP) A. Manohar, STPP Executive Director Chiranjeevulu, Head of Power Projects Vishwanath Raju, and other senior officials.
