KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16, 2025: Karimnagar: World Ozone Day – 2025 was celebrated grandly at S.R.R. Government Arts and Science Autonomous College, Karimnagar. This programme was successfully organized under the auspices of the Botany Department.
This year’s World Ozone Day theme has been decided as – *Theme 2025: From Science to Global Action*. This program was launched with the aim of taking this to the students and creating awareness on environmental protection.
Principal Professor Kalvakunta Ramakrishna attended the program as the chief guest and addressed the audience. He said “The ozone layer protects our Earth from harmful ultraviolet rays. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect it. The guidance provided by scientific research to society should be put into practice. We can all become a shield for the world with small actions,” he called.
Thirukovela Srinivas, Head of the Department of Botany, presided over the programme and said that the role of students is very important and that they should control ozone layer depleting substances, completely eradicate deforestation and undertake extensive tree plantation programs. Archana, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell, participated as the guest of honour.
Botany Department faculty members R. Radhakrishna, Padala Tirupati, Mrs. K. Kalajyothi, Bunga Tirupati, Mrs. Swaroopa Rani, Tajuddin and others participated and encouraged the students.
On this occasion, competitions like essay writing competition, face painting, making charts and posters, and writing slogans were organised to bring out the creativity among the students. Prizes were given to the winners of the competitions. They are,

Students participated enthusiastically and expressed their thoughts on environmental protection in various forms. Some students displayed catchy slogans like “Save Ozone – Save Lives”
“Save Ozone – Save Future”. Similarly, all the students took a pledge to save the ozone layer.
Finally, the winners were felicitated by giving away prizes. The Head of the Department congratulated the teachers and the participating students who worked hard to make this program successful in coordination with the NSS Cell and Eco Club.
