
Plans to secure NAAC accreditation to SU
Start Government Engineering, BEd and MEd colleges on university premises
Introduce job-oriented courses as per NEP and conduct second convocation of University very soon
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 21, 2024: Prof U Umesh Kumar took charge as the Vice Chancellor of Satavahana University in Karimnagar town on Monday.
A senior professor of the Chemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad, was welcomed by the University staff and students before assuming the charge in his chamber. He is the fourth VC of the budding Satavahana University. Mr Umesh Kumar had earlier worked as Registrar in the University from 2018 to 2020.
Speaking to media persons, Mr Umesh Kumar said that his first priority would be to accelerate the process to get the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grade for the university during this year. He said that he would take all measures to open the government engineering college and Bed and Med colleges on the sprawling premises of University.
The Satavahana University will strive to be more student-centric and take into consideration opinions of all stakeholders. He would also introduce job-oriented new courses as per the New Education Police (NEP). He also promised to examine the conversion of self-financing courses into regular courses and added that they would introduce PhD courses in the university.
Reminding that the first convocation of the University was conducted when he was Registrar of the SU, he said that he would very soon take measures for the conduct of second convocation by inviting Governor and Chancellor Jishnu Dev Varma. He also said that they would take up more academic activities for the benefit of students and promised to make SU the best University in the Telangana state. Registrar M Varaprasad, Assistant Registrar Y Kishore, Controller of Examinations NV SriRanga Prasad, University Arts College principal Md Jaffer Jari, University commerce and business management principal D Harikanth, University Science college principal Jayanthi and others were also present.
