NAlGONDA, FEBRUARY 26, 2026: Prof Koppula Anji Reddy, Professor of Economics and Dean of the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, has assumed the charge as the Registrar of the Mahatma Gandhi University on Thursday.
Renowned for his gentle demeanour and strong administrative skills, Prof Koppula’s journey is truly inspiring. Prof Koppula’s rise to becoming the Registrar of a university showcases his remarkable resilience and dedication. Hailing from Singaram village in the Atmakur mandal of the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Prof Koppula completed his primary education in his hometown and continued his studies in Chada village.
He earned his degree in Bhuvanagiri and did his PG and PhD from Osmania University. Coming from a family with illiterate parents, Anji Reddy’s commitment to education grew stronger when he had to work as a shepherd for a year after his father fell ill while he was in the 6th standard.
His determination not only led him to continue higher studies himself but also inspired his brother to obtain a PhD, transforming their family’s educational background. Koppula Anji Reddy began his teaching career as a lecturer at Sardar Patel College and spent ten years there before joining Mahatma Gandhi University in 2007 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. He quickly proved his capabilities within the university administration, starting as the Hostel Warden and Director of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell), playing a vital role in enhancing the university’s NAAC grading.
He also served as the Principal of the College of Arts and Social Sciences and held several important positions, including Director of the Audit Cell, Controller of Examinations, and OSD to the Vice-Chancellor, earning him the respect of colleagues and students alike. In addition to his administrative duties, he actively contributes to research in Economics as a member of the Executive Council of the Telangana Economic Association. Following his new appointment, Vice-Chancellor Acharya Khaja Althaf Hussain, along with Convenor of TG ICET-2026 Prof Aluvala Ravi, Director (Infrastructure) Prof Akula Ravi, various college principals, faculty members, and students extended their heartfelt congratulations to Prof Koppula Anji Reddy.
