KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27, 2025: Marking a historic milestone in India’s telecom sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday officially inaugurated BSNL’s indigenously developed 4G Network through video conference.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister said: “The launch of 4G services built on indigenous technology will strengthen Digital India. By expanding high-speed data services to rural areas, these services will empower youth, students, and businesses with new opportunities.”
Swadeshi 4G – Historic Achievements
- 98,000 4G sites rolled out across India.
- India becomes the 5th country in the world to produce telecom equipment.
- BSNL is now the 6th telecom company globally to develop and deploy its own telecom technology.
- A historic day not only for BSNL, but also for India and the world.
Regional Impact & Future Plans
According to BSNL officials:
- The new 4G technology has been designed, developed, and deployed entirely under the Make in India initiative.
- In the erstwhile Karimnagar district, 400 new 4G sites are being proposed.
- The rollout will deliver faster speeds, superior quality, and affordable connectivity for customers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ponnam Ajay, Deputy General Manager, BSNL Karimnagar, said: “The inauguration of Swadeshi 4G services by the Hon’ble Prime Minister marks a historic turning point in BSNL’s journey. People of the erstwhile Karimnagar district and across Telangana will greatly benefit from this advanced technology. This is a significant step forward in strengthening Digital India.”
The event in Karimnagar was witnessed in the presence of Naveen Kumar, DIO Karimnagar, along with eDM, DEs, SDE/AOs, JTO/JAOs, and all BSNL staff members, who actively participated in the virtual inauguration.
