
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 17, 2025: The House Surgeons and Interns of the Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Nagunuru, Karimnagar town, have staged a dharna in front of the main entrance of the medical college demanding that the management provide stipend as per the norms on Tuesday.
The PIMS House Surgeons and PG interns said that the government was paying Rs 25,000 per month to each house surgeon, but the college management was claiming the amount of the junior doctors and extracting the work from the students without paying a single penny.
They reminded that the management of Mallareddy College and Mediciti Medical College in Hyderabad had agreed to the demand of their college interns and to pay the stipend to the medicos as per the norms.
The medicos said that house surgeons and PG interns take up the most work at the hospital. But they were not paid any stipend, which is mandatory as per norms National Medical Council norms, they reminded.
