BRAOU organised the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Lecture
HYDERABAD, APRIL 11, 2026: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University organised a Mahatma Jyotiba Phule lecture as a part of “Social Empowerment Fest” at the university campus on Saturday.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, Dr BRAOU, was the Chief Guest for the programme. He stated that education under the Sanatana system was historically restricted and exclusionary, which Jyotiba Phule strongly opposed. Phule advocated for equal access to education for all sections of society, regardless of caste or social status. He emphasised that education should serve as a tool for social transformation and empowerment.
He also stressed the need for regulatory bodies like the Central Board of Film Certification and the University Grants Commission, and the judiciary to function without bias. He argued that institutions governing education and media must uphold principles.
University Academic Director Prof. G. Pushpa, BC cell coordinator A Ramadevi, Incharge Registrar NC Venugopal, OSD Rabindranath Solaman and others were also present.
