PEDDAPALLI, APRIL 05, 2026: Philanthropists of the integrated Karimnagar district have donated a Vaikunta Ratham (funeral vehicle) to perform last rites in a dignified manner to the villagers of Kolanoor in Odela mandal of Peddapalli district on Sunday.
Philanthropist and local leader Kanneboina Odelu has bought the idea of donating a funeral vehicle to the village and formed Madhava Seva Samithi and collected donations from the well-wishers, including Daram Susheela Devi Charitable Trust chairman and senior physician Dr D Raghu Raman.
In all, a total of 38 donors had donated for the purchase of the funeral vehicle and handed over the vehicle on Sunday to village sarpanch Palle Kanaiah, Upa-sarpanch Pakala Sampath Reddy, temple restoration convenor Kalakonda Raji Reddy and others.

The sarpanch and other villagers thanked the noble gesture of philanthropists and felicitated all the 38 donors on the occasion. The village sarpanch announced to provide his own tractor in case of need for the conduct of the last rites.
Dr Raghu Raman, who participated as the chief guest, said that the people were suffering due to a lack of a funeral vehicle in the village. As even the poorest of the poor were forced to spend thousands to hire a private funeral vehicle, he said that the new funeral vehicle would help the people of the region. Village leaders Pakala Karunakar Reddy, Jangam Komuraiah, Venugopal Reddy and others were present.
