It is ridiculous to see that Satavahana University VC has emerged as first VC in the Telangana state to receive the Certificate of appreciation during Independence Day
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 08, 2025: Teaching and non-teaching staff of the Satavahana University in general and people of the district have expressed shock and dismay over SU Vice Chancellor Prof U Umesh Kumar receiving the Certificates of appreciation from Collector Pamela Satpathy in Karimnagar town on Monday.
Incidentally, the Certificates of Appreciation are given to the employees and police personnel for their exemplary work and as part of appreciation and encouragement. The Certificates of Appreciation are provided only to the regular employees.
Ironically, the Satavahana University vice chancellor, who had himself recommended his name for the appreciation award, neglecting the non-teaching staff, was not present during the presentation of awards on August 15th as he was away in the USA (that is also another big story which will be published soon in these columns).
After his return, the VC spoke to the district authorities about the presentation of the award. Accordingly, he visited the chambers of the Collector and received the appreciation certificate.
How come the selection committee selects a university chief, neglecting the lower rung staff in providing award? The officials should remember that the VC is of the rank of Principal Secretary and above the rank of district Collector.
The district officials should not provide certificates of appreciation to the outsourcing and temporary-nominated employees. The VC is nominated by the government only for a period of three years. But, he was presented with the appreciation certificate flouting the norms.
