Karimnagar Commissionerate of police, which implements the Hyderabad Police Act, should not allow tractors the agricultural implements on the roads of the city
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 28, 2025: Autorickshaws continue to ferry passengers more than the permissible limit in the city, putting the lives of occupants at risk. Autorickshaws at Karimnagar can be seen ferrying passengers more than their capacity, and the menace of overloading is going unabated in almost all rural as well as semi-rural areas.
But, the Karimnagar Commissionerate of police, which has launched high-tech traffic surveillance by installing several hundred cameras in the entire Karimnagar from June 27, 2025 onwards, have neglected the menace being caused by auto-rickshaws in various parts of Karimnagar town.
Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police commissioned several hundred high-tech traffic surveillance cameras and imposed e-challans on two-wheelers and four-wheelers. But they had failed to discharge their legitimate duties to regulate the overloading of autos and illegal and authorised auto-stands in various parts of town.
Ironically, these high-tech traffic surveillance cameras were installed in Karimnagar town as part of the Smart City project. But, the authorities concerned are not focusing on illegal encroachment of footpaths, parking places, overloading of autos and illegal and unauthorised conversion of busy roads as ‘Auto Stands’ as parking lots by the autowallahs.
People of Karimnagar town earnestly appeal to the police officials to first remove all encroachments on the roads, including footpaths, by the traders and other establishments and illegal and unauthorized auto-stands in Karimnagar town. Besides, the police should focus on blatant violations of auto-wallahs who overload with passengers and use blaring music systems, causing a nuisance to other road users.
The police officials were also urged to ensure that the shopping malls, hotels and others stop encroachment of roads. The auto menace had become a big nuisance in Karimnagar town. They openly occupy busy roads and erect ‘Auto Stand’ boards and causing traffic snarls and nuisance. But, the police focus solely only helmet rules violations by taking pictures and imposing e-challan. It is high time for the police to implement the traffic rules with integrity by removing encroachments, removing illegal Auto stands and clearing traffic snarls.
Thanks to the inefficiency of the so-called leaders, the Karimnagar town had progressed in reverse with the unscientific execution of the Smart City works. They had converted the broad and wide roads into narrow ones by constructing footpaths and creating huge parking spaces, which had turned into free space for the traders to sell their products and cause a nuisance. In future, these roadside traders would secure even permission from the court to sell on the roads as part of the Hawkers’ rights and further create serious woes to the people of the Karimnagar town. It is time for the authorities to act firmly with a vision and remove all encroachments before it becomes a big problem in Karimnagar town.
