
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29, 2025: Over 500 people participated in the 5k walkathon organised by the Sunrise hospitals in Karimnagar town on the occasion of World Heart Day celebrations on Monday.
Under the theme of ‘Don’t Miss a Beat’, the walkathon was organised from Sunrise Hospital to the Mahatma Jyothirao Phule Park (circus grounds) in Karimnagar. The walkathon was flagged off by Additional DCP of Karimnagar Town Commissionerate, Mr. P. Venkataramana, who emphasised the importance of raising awareness among people about heart health. Karimnagar Rural ACP Mr Vijaya Kumar, 3 Town CI Mr John Reddy, and SI Mr Jagadeeshwar also participated in the event. Around 500 people, including the general public, hospital staff, doctors, police personnel, and walkers, actively took part and made the program a grand success.
Cardiologist Dr Kondapaka Kiran Kumar said: “This year’s World Heart Day theme is ‘Don’t Miss a Beat’. The heart is the central organ of life. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, avoiding smoking and alcohol, and managing stress can help prevent heart-related diseases. Heart problems are on the rise among today’s youth. Therefore, everyone needs to adopt heart-healthy habits from a young age.”
On this occasion, the management of Sunrise Hospitals stated that such programmes help spread health awareness in society and urged people to pay more attention to heart care.
