
NALGONDA, NOVEMBER 20, 2025: Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), in association with the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), on Thursday, conducted a one-day awareness programme aimed at highlighting the opportunities in the cooperative sector for the students of the MGU.
Participating as the chief guest, Director of ICM R Ganesan interacted with the students, underscoring the vital role that the cooperative sector plays in empowering individuals. He stressed the numerous opportunities available for the youth in the domain.. Ganesan elaborated that any group of 20 individuals with similar interests can form cooperative societies in compliance with Central and State regulations, thereby promoting economic development and job creation through various government initiatives.
He also provided insights into the successes of cooperative societies nationwide and noted that there are internship opportunities available for university students. Ganeshan highlighted that the NCERT has acknowledged the significance of the cooperative sector by integrating it into the educational curriculum, and added that Mahatma Gandhi University is also considering the inclusion of this subject. He commended the students for their eagerness to establish a cooperative society.

Mr Ganesan urged the youth to take advantage of the numerous opportunities provided by the government, which not only encompass savings and loans but also facilitate financial independence and contribute to the development of a self-sufficient nation. The event was presided over by Principal of University College of Commerce and Business Management (UCCBM) Prof Kautha Sridevi. Dean of Faculty of Arts Prof Koppula Anji Reddy, Director (Infrastructure) Prof Akula Ravi, Lakshmi Prabha, Sharif, ICM faculty member Prasad were also present.
