KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 11, 2026: Allegations of selective enforcement by the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation have surfaced from Srinagar colony in Karimnagar, where a resident accused officials of failing to act against an alleged illegal structure despite instructions from the Collector, Municipal Commissioner, CDMA, and others concerned.
Irked over the lethargy on the part of Town planning officials of MCK, the social activist and government teacher, Md Javid Hussain, had approached the Lokasyuktha, which will be hearing the case on May 5, 2026. It may be recalled that Mr Hussain had been crusading against illegal construction in Srinagar colony in survey number 1011, which was constructed without leaving any proper setback as per the municipal norms.
Md Javid Hussain stated that he had approached then Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai and submitted a petition two years ago about the illegal construction during ‘Prajavani’ programme. Then Municipal Commissioner issued a speaking order and passed dismantling orders against the illegal construction. However, the MCK officials delayed the implementation of the MCK Commissioner’s orders and supported the illegal constructions for reasons better known to the authorities concerned.
Mr Javid Hussan approached Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA), who had directed the MCK to take action within 90 days. But, there was no inquiry or any action taken against the illegal construction for obvious reasons.
The officials from CDMA, Municipal Administration, Warangal RJD and others termed the issue a matter of serious concern, stating that such instances create a perception of partiality and weaken public trust in the functioning of the MCK. The complainant further pointed out that residents of the locality were dissatisfied and had expressed resentment over what they described as “biased implementation of rules”.
In his complaint, Javid states that the structure is clearly visible and falls under unauthorised construction, yet officials have failed to take appropriate action. He urged the authorities to ensure uniform enforcement of civic laws without any discrimination. He requested Collector Chitra Mishra and MCK Commissioner Praful Desai to direct the town planning officials to take prompt and fair action in the matter and to ensure justice.
