RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 28, 2026: National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College in Shatrajupalli in Vemulawada temple town on Saturday.
The National Science Day is celebrated in India to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Physicist CV Raman on February 28, 1928. India has been celebrating National Science Day since 1986, when the government of India decided to commemorate the announcement of the discovery of the Raman Effect and to encourage the development of a scientific mindset in the country.

On this occasion, a Science Fair was organised in the college. The students showcased their talents through models and poster presentations on various scientific topics. They demonstrated their understanding of science, creativity, and research-oriented thinking.

As part of the cultural programs, students impressed the audience with dance performances, songs, and speeches. The entire event was conducted in a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
On this occasion, Principal K Lavanya explained the importance of science in daily life. She also recalled the valuable contributions made by C. V. Raman to the scientific community.

During the programme, the students selected for the “SHE for STEM Stellar Scholarship” were felicitated. T. Nandini, a final-year B.Z.C. student, received a cash prize of ₹10,000, while D. Varsha and B. Praneetha, final-year Statistics students, received ₹5,000 each. The college also extended heartfelt congratulations to Ms. G. Arpita, who served as the mentor for this programme.
