
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 13, 2025: As per the UGC directives and advisories on mandatory regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, MNR University has taken up several necessary steps for its implementation in toto. As per the provisions in the above regulations and to ensure its strict compliance with the monitoring mechanism, including awareness activities for preventing ragging, MNR University observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August, followed by Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August, 2025, as an initiative and one of the tools of the UGC to increase awareness against ragging.
The Inaugural ceremony to mark the awareness programme on Anti-Ragging and International Youth Day (12th Aug 2025) was held in the Auditorium of MNR-HERA campus, involving students, faculty & Non-teaching staff of MNR University and Colleges under MNR Educational Trust. Dr.M.Christopher, Registrar of the University, presided over the function. Dr.T.V.Satyanarayana, Advisor, MNR University, gave a brief account on how UGC gradually came up with the regulations to be followed in Higher Educational Institutions and State Acts of 1997 & 2016. Dr.J.S.Ravikumar, Director (Academics) exclaimed the zero tolerance stand of the University & MNR-ET on ragging.
Prof.A.Sivasankar, Dean of Students Welfare, explained in detail what constitutes ragging and punishments thereof as per UGC. The Anti-Ragging measures taken up and details of various committees on curbing the menace of ragging, placed on the University website, were shown. The students were encouraged to participate in various literary competitions in the Anti-Ragging Week, includingthe National Contest held by UGC.
The Dean of Student Welfare also gave a detailed account of observing International Youth Day, which commemorates the launch of Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI. The videos on Anti-Ragging by UGC and Viksit Bharat were screened for the benefit of students and staff. Sri Kranti Kumar, Circle Inspector, Sangareddy Rural, graced the function as the Chief Guest. Accompanied by Sub-Inspectors: Sri Ravinder and Ms.Harika, in his interactive address gave a detailed account of punishments against involvement in ragging. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Dean of Students Welfare. After the meeting, students were seen taking photos in the selfie-stand erected on this occasion.
