
NALGONDA, OCTOBER 29, 2025: Students should set high goals and take an active part in addressing social problems, said Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain.
Addressing an awareness programme titled “Enjoy Peruto Ganjayi Vaddu” (Say No to Ganja in the Name of Enjoyment) at the Seminar Hall of the Arts Block on the university campus on Wednesday, Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain stressed the need for students to identify and nurture their talents to achieve excellence through consistent efforts and discipline.

MLC Nellikanti Satyam, who also spoke on the occasion, urged students to shoulder their civic responsibilities and actively participate in the campaign against drug abuse. He recalled the vital role and sacrifices of students in several social movements, noting that their energy and commitment could bring about meaningful change and contribute to national progress. As part of the programme, artistes from the Department of Culture, Telangana, in collaboration with the Palle Narasimha troupe, staged a short play highlighting the dangers of cannabis use. Their performance, interwoven with songs and dances addressing various social issues, received wide appreciation from the audience. Telangana Praja Natyamandali State Secretary Srinivas, student leaders Rahman, Murali, and Jilla Yadaiah, and MGU faculty members Dr. Maram Venkataramana Reddy, Dr. Anitha Kumari, and Dr. Anand were among those present.
