MCK should take up the removal of encroachment of footpaths and parking spaces
They should launch a drive against the banned pollution vinyl posters, which are being erected in every part of the town
The Collectorate AO or estate officer should not allow MCK on its premises
They denied devotees from visiting the Maisamma temple, too
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 08, 2025: The Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar, who have no authority to encroach on the premises of the Collectorate complex, had allegedly converted the parking space into a plantation of saplings for ‘obvious reasons’ better known to the officials concerned.
Incidentally, the Karimnagar Collectorate office complex is the first of its kind integrated office complex in the integrated Andhra Pradesh state to house all the departments under one roof, way back in 40 years ago. Accordingly, they had planned the parking space and constructed the parking sheds in front of the SBI branch on its premises.
However, some of the officials belonging to the MCK, who were irked by the open urination, had allegedly taken up plantation on the parking lots, as evidenced by the pictures. Ironically, the authorities had removed the open toilets adjacent to the paid toilets on the premises.
Irked over open urination by the Revenue shopping complex owners, which was constructed by the TNGOs, who failed to provide toilets to the owners and destruction of the open toilets on the Collectorate premises, they were urinating on the premises when some of the officials were travelling on the premises, they forced to take up plantation denying the parking lots when the vehicle population is increasing steadily.
Surprisingly, the so-called authorities had even removed the cement benches which were set up since 2016 in front of the Collector’s chamber, which was earlier the Kothapalli Tahsildar office. The cement chairs were removed and dumped in no-man’s land as the so-called officials found that the people were sitting on the chairs when the so-called officials were moving on the premises. But, they should remember that they are ‘civil servants’ and not CEOs of any multinational companies.
Gone are the days when the visionary Civil servants had transformed the Karimnagar town and the Collectorate premises, but the present so-called officials are working as per ‘whims and fancies’ and denying parking space by taking up plantation of the saplings with a vengeance. How can they deny visit to the Maisamma temple on the premises by planting saplings?
It is high time for the officials concerned to reconstruct the open toilets on the premises instead of denying parking space for the people visiting the collectorate. It would be chaotic if the new collectorate is inaugurated and other offices are shifted to the existing premises, due to a shortage of parking space. They should also remember that they are not permanent in this district. It is shocking to see the plantation under the parking shed and how the plants can grow without sunlight. This all shows that this was being taken up with a vengeaance for their comforts only.
If the MCK authorities are so concerned, let them remove the encroachment of the footpaths and parking spaces, which were encroached by the small traders, who would have secured permission too.
The road around Dr BR Ambekar Stadium was a sprawling two-lane highway with central lighting. But thanks to visionless planning by the officials, the spacious road was converted into a narrow road with lots of encroachments. The MCK should focus on the removal of encroachments and creation of new markets instead of encroaching collectorate for obvious reasons. It is high time for the district authoritie,s including the Collectorate Administrative office and Estate Officer, to take necessary measures to create abundant parking space.
