Instead of removing encroachment of footpaths and parking, the MCK alone is encroaching on the road by erecting fencing in various parts of town and causing inconvenience to road users
If there is a problem in dumping garbage on the roads, the MCK should ensure that garbage collection autos visit the localities daily instead of once a week
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 05, 2025: The officials of Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) have attained a dubious distinction in the Telangana state for the encroachments of government spaces such as Collectorate and even the public roads in Karimnagar town.
The officials, who should remove encroachments of footpaths and parking spaces on the roads in Karimnagar, are encroaching on the same and causing serious traffic snarls in various parts of the town.
Recently, the MCK had put up fencing at the Ambedkar Stadium, mini-market on the EPF office road in Karimnagar town, stating that the people were dumping garbage on the parking place. But, they should remember that they had denied parking space to the people and aggravated the problem as the people have started dumping on the road, causing inconvenience to the road users.
However, the MCK officials say that they would monitor the situation through integrated command control CCTV footage and impose fines on the people for dumping garbage on the roads. Ironically, the officials should know that the people would dump the garbage on the roads only when the garbage rickshaws do not visit their localities regularly.
The garbage collection autos would visit the localities for the collection only once in a week in some localities. It is mandatory that the garbage collection autos should visit the localities to collect the garbage daily, but in vain. They only visit once a week or twice a week. As the garbage is generated in the house, the people are forced to dump it on the road.
The MCK authorities, instead of setting up garbage bins to help people dump the garbage in them, had literally closed the parking space by erecting a fence, forcing the people to dump the garbage on the road and causing nuisance to the road users with a stinky smell.
The authorities should have a vision for the development. But they are causing more harm to the town by converting already congested roads into narrow roads with unscientific planning. It is high time for the authorities to remove the fencing and provide garbage bins for the easy disposal of the garbage or ensure that the garbage collection autos visit the localities daily for the collection of garbage from generating points.
Similarly, the MCK authorities, who had converted the parking space into a plantation of saplings for ‘obvious’ reasons better known to them, would soon cause lots of trouble to the people visiting the Karimnagar town without adequate parking space, as they were planning to erect fencing around the plantation and cause serious inconvenience to the visitors.
The learned officials should remember that the Karimnagar Collectorate was the first one in the integrated Andhra Pradesh state with all offices under one roof in the 1980s, with all facilities for the visitors, including adequate parking space and lawn space with Helipad park in the year 1999.
But, the MCK officials had failed to revive the closed Helipad park and encroaching parking space, causing serious inconvenience to the visitors. The officials had denied entry of devotees to offer prayers to Goddess Maisamma temple on the premises by taking up plantation.
