KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 12, 2026: Employees of the LIC of India Karimnagar division affiliated to Insurance Corporation Employees Union (CEU) have participated in the nationwide one-day strike call on Thursday in Karimnagar town in protest against the four labour codes enacted by the Union Government.
The strike call was given by 10 central trade unions (CTUs), including all-India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), to oppose four new Labour codes that were notified by the government in November to replace the existing 29 labour laws and also to oppose the increasing attacks on the working class.

ICEU district president A Ram Mohan Rao said that the Union Government has announced the increase of FDI from the existing 74 per cent to 100 per cent only to cause harm to the Indian economy, common people and the nation’s responsibilities. He alleged that the privatisation of the insurance sector began in 1999 with the passage of the Insurance Development Regulatory Authority (IRDA) Act, which allowed Indian to operate in partnership with foreign companies.
The Union leaders reiterated their key demands, including the repeal of the four labour codes enacted by the Central Government, restoration of the MGNREGA Act, withdrawal of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Act, repeal of the Electricity Act, 2025, and the Seed Bill, 2025. They also demanded regularisation of contracts and outsourced workers and permanent recruitment for future vacancies.
Other demands included fixing the minimum wage at Rs 26,000 per month, regularisation of Anganwadi, ASHA and mid-day meal workers, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and scrapping of the New Pension Scheme implemented from January 1, 2004.
ICEU Karimnagar district general secretary V Vaman Rao demanded that the government take up the recruitment of LIC Class-3 and 4 jobs immediately without any delay. Karimnagar division insurance corporation pensioners association general secretary N Lakshmikantha, ICEU district Vice president D Suryakala, joint secretary C Anupama, treasurer M Srilatha, Karimnagar one and two branches and divisional office staff participated the programme including a rally from Indira chowk to Collectorate.
