
His birth anniversary is on July 19
Closely associated with Lok Satta Udyama Samstha and Karimnagar Consumer Council
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 18, 2025: The 93rd birth anniversary of eminent philanthropist and businessman Kesarimal Karwa will be observed on July 19 in Karimnagar town.
It may be recalled that Mr Kesarimal passed away in his sleep while he was holidaying along with his family members in Dubai on January 11, 2020, at the age of 88 years. Mr Kesarimal Karwa was renowned for his philanthropic activities and empowerment of budding industrialists and entrepreneurs in the district.
Incidentally, he had seen the three phases of the Telangana statehood movement right after Independence of the country and for the liberation of Telangana from the clutches of the Nizam rulers in 1947 to 1948. The second phase of the statehood movement in 1969 and the third phase of the movement with the advent of TRS (Now BRS) in 2001 led to the formation of a separate Telangana state.
He was a close associate of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, former MPs and Ministers J Chokka Rao and M Satyanarayana Rao, former Assembly speaker Duddilla Sripada Rao and even the former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy. He maintains cordial relations with all the elected representatives and always advises them on the development of the integrated Karimnagar district.
He had constructed a dining hall for the students of Government High School, Sapthagiri colony in Karimnagar town to serve midday meals. He had also donated funds for the distribution of ID cards and T-shirts to the government school students.
He started his business as a gold merchant and later shifted to the cloth industry, cinema theatre and later into the granite industry. During his last seven decades as a businessman, he had emerged as a role model for several businessmen of the town and an advisor to several budding businesspeople.
Incidentally, Mr Karwa was the person who bought the Union Bank of India for the Karimnagar district in the year 1962, and the branch is still housed in his own building premises in Karimnagar town. He maintained close relations with several senior bank officials of UBI and also the RBI. He was associated with the Karimnagar Chamber of Commerce for several decades and strived for the development of business and trade in the district.
Mr Karwa was also associated with the Lok Satta Udyama Samtha and Karimnagar Consumer Council and strived for the welfare of society and upholding the rights of the people. He had won accolades for his charitable activities of providing financial assistance and monthly groceries to several orphanages and old-age homes in the district.
He encouraged the bright students by providing necessary financial assistance for their higher education. He never says no to anyone who approaches him for any kind of assistance
To commemorate his birth anniversary, his sons Bhagwandas Karwa and Venugopal Karwa have decided to conduct a Bhajanotsav by Shri Das Hanuman Ji Maharaj Chitrakot and Param Pujya Guru Maharaj Shri 1008 Shri Ghanshyamacharyaji Maharaj on July 20 at Sri Das Hanuman Gaushala, Odyaram, Karimnagar.
Similarly, a mega medical camp would be organised on the premises for the benefit of the employees associated with the Sri Venkatesh Granites (SVG) and other firms in the Karimnagar district.
People associated with him, including Lok Satta Udyama Samstha said that Mr Kesarimal Karwa’s contributions extended to social reform. His philanthropic efforts were wide-ranging and impactful, they said and added that Mr Karwa used to first provide the monthly groceries to the orphanages on par with his employees’ salaries.
