Scores of people participated enthusiastically in the run organised by the Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police.
The programme was graced by Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam as the chief guest, while Additional DCP Bheem Rao and other ACPs, inspectors, SIs and Kendra Sahitya Academy award winner Nelimala Bhaskar, Dasarathi award winner Annavaram Devender and others participated in the 5K run.
On this occasion, the CP said that Sardar Patel was a great visionary who dedicated his life to strengthening the unity and integrity of India. He reminded everyone that Patel’s leadership was instrumental in the integration of 565 states into one united nation after independence.

“Today is a day of pride and inspiration for every Indian as we celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, who was India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister,” he said. He also reminded that Mahatma Gandhi had conferred to Patel the title of ‘Iron Man’ for his firm determination and exceptional leadership. He also recalled Patel’s contribution to the Kheda Movement (1918) and Bardoli Satyagraha (1928), which earned him the title of “Sardar” from the women of Bardoli.
