MCK ensure that the sweepers and others clean only the premises surrounding the residences of officials and corporators, neglecting the localities and people of the town
Though it is claimed to be a Smart City, there is no night-sweeping in the town and traders and shoppers dump their garbage waste on the roads, causing nuisance to the morning walkers

Lok Satta Udyama Samstha asks whether the people are not paying taxes, and why there is no daily sweeping and collection of garbage in the residential areas

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 25, 2026: The Air Quality in fast-growing Karimnagar town is rapidly degrading, with the Air quality index levels plunging into the ‘unhealthy’ category on Wednesday due to the burning of garbage at the dump yard and waste by the sweepers in various localities and also the non-cleaning of localities, including drains.
Thanks to the lethargy on the part of the Municipal authorities, who are concerned only about collecting taxes from the residents and are least bothered about providing basic amenities of proper sanitation and removing garbage every day in the localities, the Air quality index had reflected ‘unhealthy’ in Karimnagar town.
Travel around any locality in the town, and people could feel the pungent, drainage or garbage smell following the non-removal by the authorities concerned. Irony is that the MCK officials and also corporators ensure that the premises around their residences are cleaned daily by deploying the municipal staff.
On the other hand, the MCK officials show a negligent attitude towards cleaning or sweeping of various localities every day. If anyone visits the busy commercial circle of Tower Circle, the vegetable market or other areas, the morning walkers are greeted with heaps of garbage dumped by the shoppers on the roads, emanating a pungent smell.
Reminding that the Karimnagar town is not surrounded by any industries to create pollution, Lok Satta Udyama Samstha Karimnagar town leader KS Narayana said that the unhealthy Air index is prevailing due to inefficiency of the MCK authorities. They are more concerned about encroachment of parking spaces, but not redressing the public grievances in spite of collecting taxes, he pointed out.
He reminded that the taxpayers were giving their salaries and they should strive for the welfare and well-being of the people of the town. How can ‘unhealthy’ Air quality index prevail in Karimnagar town, he asked and reminded that it is only because of the lethargy on the part of MCK officials, who are not taking up daily sweeping and removal of garbage.
Whether the sweeping and removal of garbage is permitted only to the MCK officials and corporators residences, he questioned and demanded that MCK authorities not ask for taxes from the people of the town for failing to discharge their legitimate duties of taking up daily sweeping and collection of garbage.
