
Expresses Willingness to Partner in Critical Minerals
A Significant Development in Singareni’s Expansion: CMD N. Balram
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 08, 2025: The Republic of Ghana, renowned globally for its rich reserves of diamonds, gold, bauxite, manganese and lithium, has extended an invitation to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to invest in its mining sector. On Saturday, a high-level delegation from Ghana met with SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N. Balram at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad to discuss potential business collaborations.
During the meeting, the Ghanaian delegation expressed that their country offers significant investment opportunities in the mineral sector and welcomed Singareni, given its vast experience in mining operations. They highlighted that Ghana is a major producer and exporter of minerals such as diamonds, gold, bauxite, manganese, lithium etc. and is seeking investments to scale up production. They also mentioned that the presence of coal mining in Ghana and sought Singareni’s cooperation in that area as well.
Responding to the proposal, CMDBalram stated that Singareni has already initiated efforts to expand its operations internationally and explore opportunities in critical minerals. He assured that the company would evaluate prospects for mining in Ghana and prioritise Critical mineral extraction projects.
The Ghanaian delegation informed that a technical team from Ghana is scheduled to meet with India’s central government in the coming month. They requested a follow-up meeting with Singareni and invited the company to send a team to Ghana for further discussions. CMD N. Balram responded positively and confirmed that a team of Singareni officials would be deputed.
This development marks a significant milestone, as it presents Singareni with its first opportunity to enter the African continent.
The meeting was attended by SCCL Director (P&P) K. Venkateshwarlu, Director (Personnel) Goutham Potru, GM (Coordination) T. Srinivas, and members of the Ghanaian delegation including Business Consultant Sri Abdul Salam Morgan Agbotui, Mali Ambassador to Ghana Ahmad Umar Sanda, prominent businessman Michael Mahama (brother of Ghana’s President John Mahama), Ghana Standards Board Chairman Mogtari Hudu, Senior Correspondent to the Vice President’s Office Aggrey Elishama Frederick, National Security Officer Anga Mwine Saitasalifu, entrepreneur Agbenkor Edna Edem, and Ghana Business Head Parul Kakkar.
