KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 12, 2026: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunuru, Karimnagar town, participated in an online programme to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026, organised by the State Samata Sub Committee, Jana Vignana Vedika Telangana (AIPSN) via Google Meet, on Thursday.
The programme featured talks by V. Radha, Senior Scientist (Retd), CCMB, Hyderabad, on women’s scientific contributions and their impact on society, and M. Rama Devi, Professor of Physiology, Gandhi Medical College, on menstrual hygiene and the effects of junk food on adolescent girls. Faculty and students actively attended the session, which was found to be informative and inspiring.

It may be recalled that the United Nations had declared International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, aimed at closing persistent gaps in STEM education and careers.
Author and Philanthropist Sudha Murthy, in her X-posted: “On 11th February, we observe the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. I have always believed that science does not belong to any one gender. It belongs to those who are curious, patient, and willing to learn. To every girl who feels drawn to science, I encourage you to follow that with confidence”.
