KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 07, 2026: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter organised a comprehensive health awareness and training programme for college students in collaboration with Sunrise hospital in Karimnagar town on the occasion of World Health Day on Tuesday.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness about this year’s theme for the day, “Together for Health. Stand With Science” which emphasises the importance of the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people. The campaign spotlights both scientific achievements and the multilateral cooperation needed to turn evidence into action – through a strong focus on the One Health approach.
The doctors’ team, led by IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Akula Shailaja, General Secretary Dr N. Mahesh Babu, Treasurer Dr V. Neelima and others, participated in the training programme and educated the students on how healthcare units are working hard to save the lives of society.
Dr Shailaja, president of IMA Karimnagar, formally inaugurated the event and addressed the attendees. She stated that World Health Day is celebrated globally every year on April 7 under the leadership of the World Health Organisation (WHO), and each year brings focus to a specific area of public health concern.
The campaign invites people everywhere to participate – by celebrating scientific achievements, engaging with evidence, sharing personal stories of how science improves lives, and joining the global conversation through “Stand With Science”.
