
Performs screening of 150 patients and detects 10 diabetic cases at MCK
KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 14, 2025: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter has conducted a special screening camp for the detection of diabetic patients on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on Friday in Karimnagar town.
The screening camp was conducted for the benefit of the Municipal staff of Karimnagar at Kala Bharathi, wherein 150 patients were screened, and 10 diabetic patients were detected. The camp was inaugurated by SUDA chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy, MCK deputy commissioner Venukumar, Karimnagar THANA secretary Dr Bandari Rajkumar, IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Akula Shailaja, general secretary Dr N Mahesh Babu and treasurer Dr Neelima and others.
The purpose of the camp was to create awareness of the importance of early diabetes detection and timely screening. Dr Akula emphasised the necessity of raising awareness on the disease. She said, “Our aim is to empower individuals with knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions about their health. More than just screening, the session was about the importance of a holistic approach, integrating diet, exercise, and regular medical care.”

Dr Srikar, MD General Medicine, explained about the symptoms and complications & Dr Vidya, MD General Medicine, explained about prevention and treatment strategies in Diabetes. They informed about various causes, symptoms and diseases related to diabetes. The doctors said a diabetic patient may experience increased appetite and thirst, frequent urination, weight loss and difficulty in the healing of wounds.
Dr Srikar added, “Diabetes may be caused by genetic factors, excessive consumption of sugary substances, alcohol and tobacco, and high blood pressure. It may lead to loss of vision, kidney and heart diseases, and paralysis.”
