KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 23, 2026: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter organised an enlightening session and an Anaemia check-up camp for the benefit of students of Government Degree College for Women in Karimnagar town on Monday.
IMA president Dr Akula Shailaja, General Secretary Dr N. Mahesh Babu, Treasurer Dr V. Neelima, IMA team of doctors Dr Srilaxmi Reddy (Physician), Dr Narender Patel (Pulmonologist) and Dr Jyothi N ( Gynaecologist) participated in the camp and treated the girl students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shailaja addressed the students on the importance of balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, and preventive measures to combat anaemia. She explained how iron deficiency affects growth, concentration, and overall health, encouraging students to include green leafy vegetables, jaggery, and sprouts in their daily diet.

More than 300 students availed the benefits of the camp, and all were screened for Anaemia. Out of them, 150 students were identified as Anaemic and were provided with appropriate care by distributing medicines free of cost, such as iron tablets, iron syrups, and Chikki (iron-rich nutrition bars), which were distributed to all participants to promote better health and awareness. The IMA Karimnagar chapter thanked the faculty member of the college, Nazia, for their support and cooperation.
