KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 08, 2026: Doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter, along with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) Karimnagar unit, celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm at the IMA Hall, Karimnagar, on Saturday night.
IMA Telangana state president Dr P Kishan participated as the chief guest and spoke about how women are emerging as a dominant and influential force in present-day society and are playing key roles in every field.
Guest of Honour and senior IMA Leader Dr K. Shyam Sundar, the first President of IMA Telangana State, highlighted the powerful impact of women leaders and rulers throughout history.
The organiser and President of the Indian Medical Association, Karimnagar chapter, Dr Akula Shailaja, spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment and the immense contributions of women to society. She beautifully remarked that “where there is a woman in a house, it becomes a temple.”

Senior IMA leader Dr Kasturi Prameela, former Vice President of National IMA, encouraged women to be courageous and confident while facing life’s challenges.
Former IMA Karimnagar President Dr Ch. Srilatha said that every day is Women’s Day and emphasised that without women, there is neither a home nor a world.
IMA Karimnagar Secretary Dr N. Mahesh Babu stated that without the support of women, men cannot achieve success either at home or outside.
IMA Treasurer Dr Neelima presented a touching poem describing the struggles faced by women and their strength in overcoming societal challenges.
FOGSI Karimnagar President Dr Padmalatha explained the significance of celebrating Women’s Day, while Dr K. Geetha Reddy elaborated on the historical background and purpose of the day.
Women Doctors Wing Chairperson Dr Bangari Rajini Priyadarshini shared her inspiring journey as the founder of Rajini Fertility Centre, motivating women to pursue their dreams.
On this occasion, several women achievers, including homemakers, lawyers, teachers, and architects, were invited and felicitated for their contributions to society.
As part of the celebrations, groceries and fruits were also distributed to the inmates of Veerabhramendra Old Age Home, reflecting the spirit of service and compassion.
The program featured cultural events, with the ramp walk with creative props emerging as the highlight of the evening, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.
On this occasion, Dr Akula Shailaja and the FOGSI Karimnagar leadership jointly assured their continued commitment and full support towards women empowerment initiatives in Karimnagar.
