NEW DELHI, MARCH 02, 2026: In a significant step toward strengthening the cooperative movement, Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, chaired a high-level review meeting with Registrars of Cooperative Societies (RCS) and senior officials from States and Union Territories at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. The review focused on assessing the progress of key reform initiatives undertaken to modernise and revitalise the cooperative sector across the country.
During the meeting, Dr Bhutani emphasised the importance of coordinated action and timely implementation of cooperative reforms to ensure measurable outcomes at the grassroots level. He underscored that reforms must lead to greater transparency, efficiency, and member-centric functioning of cooperative institutions, in alignment with the vision of Sahkar se Samriddhi. The review deliberated on strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing digital integration, improving monitoring systems, and streamlining communication between the Centre and States to ensure uniform implementation.
The meeting was attended by Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; Joint Secretaries Anand Kumar Jha, Raman Kumar, and Siddharth Jain; and Directors Pankaj Srivastava, Kapil Meena, and Kumar Ram Krishna, along with other senior officials of the Ministry. Registrars of Cooperative Societies and senior officers from States and Union Territories participated both physically and virtually, reflecting broad-based engagement. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to intensify monitoring, enhance accountability, and accelerate the on-ground execution of reform measures, reaffirming the cooperative sector’s pivotal role in promoting inclusive growth and socio-economic development.
