HYDERABAD, JULY 29, 2025: A vociferous voice against suicides and Kargil war veteran Group Captain GJ Rao’s film, “September-10,” has bagged three awards at the 17th International Film Festival of Hyderabad Charminar (IFFHC) 2025.
The feature film, based on an extensive investigation and research by Group Captain GJ Rao, won awards in the categories of Best Social Film, Best Concept Film, and Best Director.
While Mr GJ Rao received the first two awards for his fabulous concept, a well-known Director, Sri Om Sai Prakash, bagged the Best Director award for his work.
“I am thrilled to receive three awards for a theme that is very close to my heart. I am happy that suicide prevention gets the much-needed prominence with this recognition,” Mr Rao said. He thanked Mr Om Sai Prakash, who is incidentally the chief guest of the award presentation programme held at Prasad Film Lab last night, for having converted his book into a film. The book was released by the then Chief Minister, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, on 3 September 2015.
He also thanked the IFFHC jury and organisers for the recognition. The film festival was organised in collaboration with the Universal Film Makers Council and Genesis Ultima Dubai. September 10 is yet to be released in theatres but has already garnered recognition at the international level.
