
HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 08, 2025: The Government Degree College, Rajendranagar (Shamshabad), inaugurated its newly established Botany and Zoology Laboratories, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the institution’s scientific infrastructure. The event was inaugurated by Mekala Himabindu, Principal of the college, who addressed the students and faculty on this special occasion on Wednesday.
In her inaugural speech, Himabindu emphasised the importance of practical learning in understanding and applying scientific concepts. She explained that laboratories serve as the foundation for developing curiosity, experimentation, and discovery among students. Briefly describing various chemical reactions and experimental procedures that take place in the laboratory, she encouraged students to actively engage in hands-on experiments to strengthen their scientific temper, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities. She further highlighted that practical exposure complements theoretical learning, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of science in real-life contexts.
Vice Principal Bhanu Prakash also addressed the gathering, emphasising that laboratory work plays a vital role in bridging the gap between theory and practice. He stated that scientific experiments help students transform knowledge into understanding, which is crucial for research and innovation. He appreciated the efforts of the Principal and faculty in establishing well-equipped laboratories that would greatly benefit future academic and research pursuits.
The event was graced by the presence of Durga Bhavani, Lecturer in Chemistry, Venkatesh Goud, Lecturer in Botany, Venkataiah, Lecturer in Zoology, and B. Narasimha, Lecturer in Physics, along with other faculty members. They lauded the initiative and motivated students to utilise the new facilities effectively. The program concluded on a positive note with active participation from both students and faculty, reflecting Government Degree College, Rajendranagar’s commitment to promoting scientific learning and innovation.
