

Congress leader Velichala Rajender Rao pays floral tributes
JAGTIAL, OCTOBER 04, 2024: Karimnagar Parliament Constituency Congress party incharge Velichala Rajender Rao has paid rich tributes to former Minister Juvvadi Ratnakar Rao by participating in the unveiling of his statue on the premises of Government Veterinary College in Korutla town on Friday.
On this occasion, he garlanded the bronze statue and paid floral tributes to Ratnakar Rao. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Mr Ratnakar Rao was always concerned for the upliftment of sections of society and a very humble person and good statesman.
He said that Mr Ratnakar Rao was elected thrice to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Buggaram Assembly Constituency (present Korutla Constituency) in the Jagitial district of Telangana. He served as the Minister for Endowments, Stamps and Registrations in YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet.
Ratnakar Rao, who was born on October 4, 1928, was also part of the Telangana Armed Rebel struggle as a youngster and is said to have been jailed for a brief period. Ratnakar Rao began his political career as the Jagtial Panchayat Samiti President in 1982. He later contested the assembly elections in the same year and was defeated in Jagitial Assembly constituency.
In the 1989 elections, when Congress denied him a ticket, Ratnakar Rao won from Buggaram constituency as an independent candidate and was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He later contested the elections on a Congress ticket and won in 1999 as well as 2004. Juvvadi and retired from active politics after he lost the elections in 2009.
The leader is survived by three sons Narsing Rao, Krishna Rao and Shekhar Rao. He hailed from the Thimmapur village of Dharmapuri mandal in Jagtial district.
