‘Yoga is not about touching your toes. It is what you learn on the way down.’ Yoga enhances children’s concentration and memory. It boosts children’s self-esteem and increases body awareness.
The children of The Play School, Sister Nivedita, Ameerpet, celebrated World Music Day and International Yoga Day with zeal and enthusiasm on the school premises.
The celebration featured the students singing a melodious song to mark the occasion of World Music Day. The performance highlighted the universal language of music that unites us all. Adding to the festive spirit, the students performed a musical yoga session that combined music with yoga. The programme ended with students speaking about each asana, how to perform and its benefits. The entire PlaySchool, along with the Principal of the school Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari and teachers, followed the instructions of children and performed asanas. Students and teachers came together to practice yoga, embracing its holistic benefits for the body, mind, and spirit. They demonstrated their dedication to physical and mental well-being. The event aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of Yoga and promote its practice among the students and staff.
Combining the power of music and yoga, our celebrations highlighted the importance of fostering both our physical and emotional well-being. It was a day filled with unity, wellness, and joy, embodying the holistic education we aim to provide.
The principal of the school, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, who graced the occasion, appreciated the little ones for their enthusiasm and conveyed that “Music and yoga both transcend boundaries, offering universal languages of peace, harmony, and well-being. Together, they remind us of the beauty of unity and the power of holistic living.” She also greeted everyone, Happy International Yoga Day and World Music Day.
The Chairman of the school, Sudhakar Rao Polsani, and the Correspondent of the school, Rtn. Hari Hara Prasad conveyed their wishes. And highlighted the theme – ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. Encouraged incorporating yoga into daily routines. They reaffirmed the school’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle among students.
