KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 14, 2025: Faculty members of St George International School (CBSE), Kothapalli, Karimnagar town, have donated 31 units of blood to the MGR Blood Bank on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on Saturday.
At a blood donation camp organised on the campus of the school, the faculty members voluntarily came forward to donate blood and save lives. World Blood Donor Day is celebrated to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
School Chairman P Fatima Reddy appreciated the faculty members for their noble gesture of donating blood. He said that people between the ages of 18 and 65 years old, weighing at least 45 kg and having a haemoglobin level above 12.5 g/dL can safely donate blood.
He also said World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, who discovered the ABO blood group system. It was first organised in 2004 by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
