CMD N. Balram has issued the necessary directives
Official orders will be released soon after the completion of bilateral and tripartite agreements
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 03, 2025: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) management has approved the provision of Grade-III Clerk posts to dependents of employees who lost their lives in mine accidents, provided they hold general degree qualifications. This decision falls under the compassionate employment scheme and was finalised during the 51st structured meeting held with the recognised workers’ union.
Following detailed discussions, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) N. Balram, issued orders to proceed. The management will soon enter into a bilateral agreement with the recognised workers’ union, Singareni Collieries Workers Union, followed by a tripartite agreement in the presence of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner. Official orders will be released after these agreements are concluded.
Previously, dependents with general degrees were eligible only for Category-I General Assistant posts. As per a circular issued in 2009, candidates with technical qualifications—such as degrees in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Diplomas in Mining/Mechanical/Electrical, and ITI trades like Electrical, Fitter, and Welder—were considered for roles aligned with their technical expertise.
Now, general degree holders have also been included in the eligibility criteria for Grade-III Clerk posts. However, this opportunity will be extended only if there are no technically qualified dependents in the deceased employee’s family. In such cases, general degree-holding dependents will be considered for the Grade-III Clerk post.
Background
On June 27, 2025, during a structured meeting at the Director (PA&W) level, the recognised workers’ union, Singareni Collieries Workers Union, proposed the inclusion of general degree holders in compassionate employment for Grade-III Clerk posts. The management responded positively and formed a study committee to examine the proposal in detail. After a thorough evaluation, the committee submitted its report recommending the change.
Based on the committee’s findings, CMD Sri N. Balram agreed to sympathetically consider the proposal, recognising the need to support families affected by mining accidents. The decision aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities to eligible dependents and ease the financial burden on affected families.
Implementation Process Subject to the availability of Grade-III Clerk posts within the company, eligible dependents must appear for an examination conducted by SCCL. Only those who pass the exam will be appointed to the Grade-III Clerk position. Dependents who do not qualify in the examination will be considered for Category-I General Assistant posts and offered employment accordingly.
This move marks a significant step in expanding compassionate employment opportunities and reflects SCCL’s commitment to supporting the families of its workforce.
