
HYDERABAD, JULY 14, 2025: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, hosted a one-day workshop on Indian Knowledge Systems (s): Reflections on Research and Pedagogical Inquiries at its campus on Monday..
The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. N. Nagaraju, who encouraged all faculty members to actively engage with Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). He emphasised that the university should be “in the thick of IKS initiatives under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020” and highlighted the importance of positioning EFLU as a key contributor to this national endeavour.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Ganti S. Murthy, National Coordinator, Indian Knowledge Systems Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prof. Murthy highlighted the importance of reconnecting with traditional knowledge frameworks and integrating them into modern academic practices. He noted: “Our parampara, our living traditions, hold profound wisdom that can guide modern research and education. By reconnecting with these roots, we can build a more holistic and inclusive knowledge ecosystem.”
The workshop also included thought-provoking sessions by Prof. Acharya Veeranarayana N K Pandurangi, Professor and Dean, Vedanta Faculty, Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru; Prof. D. Venkat Rao, former Professor of English Literature, EFLU, Hyderabad; and Prof. Penna Madhusudan, Director, Sanskrit Academy, Hyderabad.
The event saw active participation from senior faculty members, teacher administrators, young researchers, and students, who engaged in lively discussions on integrating IKS into teaching and research.
The workshop reaffirmed EFLU’s commitment to celebrating India’s rich intellectual traditions and strengthening its role as a leading centre for humanities and language studies in line with national priorities.
